Police: 18-year-old charged with murder of 32-year-old Concord man

Police said the victim has been identified as 32-year-old Benjamin Lee Friar, from Concord.


LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) -- A man has been charged with murder after shooting a man at James Crossing Apartments Wednesday night.

According to Lynchburg police, officers were dispatched to the 1500-block of Longview Road for reports of shots fired around 8:47 p.m.

They said upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in an apartment in 1517. He died at the scene.

Police said as a result of the investigation, 18-year-old Tyler Andrew Dabney of Lynchburg was arrested and charged with second degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.
